Yup. ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe on my main PC. Hmmm is that a problem?? (My second/old pc was also an ASUS mobo). I'm not using SLI on the first PC and the second PC is an Intel i865PE chipset P4P800 Deluxe so it doesn't have SLI either.
Sorry I took so long getting back to you. I had the identical problem with my ASUS A8N-SLI (non-deluxe) and the Logitech MX 1000. Changing USB ports didn't help. Reinstalling the mouse didn't help. No other problems with any other USB devices--just the mouse. The same problem also occurred with a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 and a
wired Intellimouse Explorer (so not an interference problem). Same problem running in SLI or single graphics card mode.
I tried reinstalling my USB root hub using device manager and the problem continued to occur. I got so frustrated that I actually wiped my drive and did a fresh install of Windows and apps. Same problem.
Finally cured the problem by plugging my mouse into the USB port on my Dell 2405FPW monitor, which is plugged into an external USB hub, which is in turn plugged into my additional USB ports in the back of the chasis (not the ports that are directly connected to the MOBO). That's right, the further I went from the ASUS MOBO, the better my mouse works.
I can only conclude that this is an ASUS problem and it's one of the primary reasons why my next MOBO is going to likely be manufactured by MSI, Gigabyte or DFI.
