optical drives won't explore

I have no idea why, but all of a sudden my optical drives won't explore anymore. I can't browse any CDs...although I CAN insert a disk and run an application which requires it (doom3 for example), and I CAN burn CDs/DVDs.....I'm confused.

Any ideas?
