Help please. I just purchased a dual layer burner (great price) and need to know the best configuration for my system. I have one hard drive, a cd burner, and a dvd burner (single layer) already. I am confused about the "master - slave" settings. As best as I can tell, my hard drive is "master" with cd burner the "slave" on one channel. Dvd burner (single layer) master on the other channel. Problem is new dvd burner, and current dvd burner say they should be set as "master". Should I heed that and change my current configuration? Or is it safe to leave as is and set new burner to slave? Total newbie. Any help appreciated. TIA!

Do you really need *three* burners? Keep in mind that DVD burners can burn CDs, and most (if not all) can burn and erase CDRWs.

But aside from that, I'd try it as a slave device to the other DVD burner. Worst case is it doesn't work.

I honestly can't see there being any problems with ANY setup as long as the IDE boot drive is your primary master.
