I'm trying to clean out my desktop and I hardly ever use the DVD burner in it. How feasible is sharing drives over a network? I have my laptop that has a DVD burner and I can easily transfer files from my desktop to laptop for burning.
The desktop is going to be more of my media center, but any dvd will either be shared from the laptop, or already be ripped on the desktop.
So is it necessary to really have an optical drive for a desktop like mine?
Of course, I know I will have to have an extra lieing around for installing Windows.
