Opteron's stock cooler vs. AC 64 pro

Hello, I bought an opteron 165 from Monarchcomputer, and it's coming tomorrow. I heard quite nice things about opteron's stock cooler with heatpipes. I'm wondering if it's better to use AC 64 pro I have now or to use the stock cooler that's going to come with the package. I prefer quite computing, could anyone tell me the dba level comparision of these two coolers in addition to their thermal performance. Which will you recommend? Thanks in advance.

ps: I'm going to oc soon, so I guess their thermal performance is a little more important.

I've got the Freezer 64 Pro on my AM2 X2 4200. Since I bought an OEM CPU though, I never used an AMD stock cooler. Originally, I bought the only cooler available for AM2, a Tt Spark 7. A smallish copper HSF.

Despite the larger size of the Freezer 64 Pro, my temps went up about 2 degrees C on both idle and load. I may remove the cooler this weekend, clean it, and apply some AS5, though I hear the MX-1 it ships with is supposed to be very good

Edit - Its pretty quiet though. I can't hear the 64 Pro over the other fans in my case, for what thats worth.

I took my Freezer 64 Pro off my first built and went back to my AMD generic HSF. I have since used only my generic HSFs on my next 2 rigs.
My temps hover aound 38C/45C at loads so the HSFs are ok. I sold my AF64 Pro to a client and never used anything than the AMD HSFs since.

i think there are several reviews out there that pit the Freezer64 Pro directly against the heatpipe stock cooler.

The Opteron stock cooler is excellent i find.

Much better than the Athlon 64 stock cooler.

So i'd say switching to an AC 64 Pro wouldn't be worth it.

Now a TT BT or Scythe Ninja or Zalman 9500, that's another story.

Here's multiple reviews of just about every heatsink ever made, including the AMD stock heatpipe: link.

I just got an Opteron 165 and the stock cooler is massive. Very impressive. Stock speeds are giving me temp of 55 degrees. Not sure how good that is in comparison to other coolers though.
