Opterons - anybody receive any 06XX???

just curious if they are going to continue to sell them retail... i hope so. man, now i want a 165 for some encoding i am doing, this 144@ 2.5GHz is already 1.8-2.0x as fast as my P4 @ 3.0GHz...and this is a smt/smp app, so i would see a ~80% increase (in theory) DAMN....

nope...you'll not see them for a bit.

Avnet is still shipping 0550s and 0546xpmws for 170s.
165s are now in the 0550 range.

Prices for Opterons are going through the roof here in the UK. On one retailer the price of a 146 went from £136 ($239) to £176 ($310) this week & the 165 from £221 ($389) to £270 ($475). And they're all out of stock. I reckon the supplies are drying up. I wanted a 165 too but I havent seen one in stock anywhere for weeks. I'm certainly not paying £270 for one now.
