Opteron vs. Xeon, which is better?

I've been trying to look all over the internet and I have found that overall the Opteron is much much better. However, since I'm looking for high end servers to be used for Game Hosting machines (I have a datacenter), which would be better? I spoke with a couple of game hosting providers and they all are looking forward for a dedicated hosting company to provide an Opteron server but they have no idea how much load it can handle and if there will be any significant performance increase over Xeon processor servers.

I have ordered an Opteron test server and will be testing it out thoroughly before deciding to market it. However, I would like to hear some suggestions as to what I should go with and why..... here are example server specs:

Opteron server

Opteron 240 CPU
Tyan Motherboard
512 mb Ram (I offer upgrades to 1 Gig or more)
80 Gig HDD (also upgradeable)

How does this matchup to a similar Xeon server with a Xeon 2.4 GHz processor.

Thanks.

Actually, it is quite technical in the sense that I'm wondering what the load on the cpu would be and what is the max it can handle given the situations I described.

Well, *everything* related to computers is "technical", but this isn't really Highly Technical.

Try in the CPU/Processors Forum instead. Your question is directly related to that topic.
