SMP systems?
If so I think they expect you to know the platform before building one :D (I keed)

To answer you question, Not that I know of.
And new Xeon's are out, newer ones should be out later this month (based on the core arch). but non of them have a HT buss (they dont comunicate between CPU's like Opterons do) sooooo If your building a system with say 4+ CPU's It might be a good idea to stick to opterons.
Otherwise take a look at Woodcrest Xeon's (if its for personal use screw it and get a Conroe and OC it like crazy :D )

Let make my questions easier, what are opteron 244 the equivalent to in Xeon.

I've read alot about 1.8 opterons out performing 2.4 xeons. The whole varying frequency confuses me. :(

Then my question would be wich Xenon's?
Irwendales (something like your comparison), Dempsey's or Woodcrests?

btw. I would put woodcrests in at about ~1.5ish to ~1.8 K8 opty. but thats just an edumicated guess.
netburst (up to and including dempsey's) are netburst based chips and need more clocks then K8 opty's its about 3.1 to 4.5 (scale it down for stock clock speeds :) )

NDA on Woodcrest is supposedly lifted on Monday, you should see some good benchmarks then.
