Opteron -The cheap OC DreaM?

Is it true that this is a good cpu to get at a cheap price? If yes would you recommend it to a noob oc'er with a Asus A8N sli -Premium mobo?

Best to search this forum for "opteron" / "opterons". There is a lot of buzz about them.

yes... the opteron 144 is probably the most sought after chip at the moment. unfortunately people don't have any in stock at the moment. but the people who are able to get them are getting the same steppings that are appearing for FX-57 chips (CABNE).

Most people getting 146, 148's are getting CABYE's which seem to get close to or a little below 3 ghz.
