opteron system and affinity

recently put together another system with a operon 175 and have noticed that I have to set the affinity in order to play halo (multiplayer) or else I am running all over the place and I have a problem with my connection. My son gets on it and plays counterstrike without making the change and has no problems. What gives? Is it due to Halo being an older game? Have heard that there is a microsoft fix and also drivers from AMD might fix it to. Anybody with a dually run into the same problem? How did you alliviate the affinity thing?
