opteron---stock cooler or my zalman 7000

I have a zalman 700cual that was cooling my 3000+ venice. Now I got the retail opteron with the stock cooler. Should I use that or will my Zalman be better. Also whats the best way to remove thermal compund from the heatsink?
 
the stock cooler sucks pretty much...it runs at 50+ celsius all the time and reboots during gaming or any cpu intensive tasks..I am going to give the zalman a shot...but if its the same, which cooler should I go for?
