Opteron standard voltage and mobos.


At Monarch's page the voltage for the Opteron 146 is listed as: "Core Voltage 1.35 V/1.4 V"

But I wonder, do all Socket 939 motherboards support such a low CPU voltage? If the lowest voltage were 1.5 might there be a risk of damaging the processor? (Probably not since overclockers would be liable to increase the voltage some anyway.)

Still, it's interesting that the stock voltage might be lower than what most motherboards support.
 
I can't speak to all s939 mobo's but the two that I have, Asus A8N-SLI deluxe and the ePox EP-9NPA + ultra have minimum vcore of 1.1v. I run both of these boards at 1.1v while idle using Cool n Quiet.
