Just got my 165 in the mail. It's a CCBBE 0610DPMW. Anyone here have one of these? How well do they overclock?

This was an OEM unit from Monarch, so I have to buy a separate cooler. ewiz is selling the TT Big Typhoon for about $40, which I've heard good things about. Are there any clearance issues on the DFI (non-expert/ATI) boards?

Also, I'm still using XP SP1. Do I need to have SP2 installed in order to use the drivers and/or hotfix?

I haven't decided whether to replace the single core in my main machine with this, but I need another processor for a second computer anyway. I'll probably use this 165 in the main computer if it manages to get around 2.7 and put it into the other system otherwise.

I'm pretty familiar with overclocking in general; I was just wondering if anyone had this particular stepping. I searched around a bit and it looks like this is a really nice one. 2.9ghz on good air cooling seems to be the average, going by the HardOCP thread on these. Looking forward to trying it out once I get a better cooler (I doubt my XP90 will cut it at those speeds) and get SP2 installed if necessary.

I'm going with a 170 for my next rig, just on air using a TT BT. I'm hoping for 2.8, but I'll settle for 2.6. My real goal is 3.0, but that's like winning the lottery :D

I am not sure you realy need the hotfix driver to use opty dual core. 165 works fine for me w/o driver for the CPU

That stepping should be pretty good. mine is doing 3g@1.424v, not prime stable though, super pai is ok.

I bought one from Monarch also.
My CCBE 0610DPMW is doing 2.7Ghz @ default voltage.
Prime stable.
Would probably go higher, but my SN25P fsb will only go to 300
I guess I can live with it

Sounds good, I think this should overclock pretty nicely. Does anyone here have a Big Typhoon and could give their thoughts on it? I've seen some people saying that it's a pain to install and remove despite cooling very well.

It looks like many people are complaining about stuttering in older games without the things installed. I'll probably switch to SP2 and use them just to be safe.
