Hi all. Sorry if this was answered before, but I did do a search and couldn't find anything.
Anyway, I've read somewhere a while ago that early 1xx and 2xx Opterons were identical and one could use two 1xx CPUs in a DP setup. So basically I was wondering if this is true today.

1xx opterons mean they are used for single processing, and 2xx opterons mean they are used for dual processing, and 8xx means they are for 8 way processing, and so on. you get the idea. i doubt you can use a 1xx in a dp setup nowdays since amd has a reason to make hte other class processors. i'm sure there's a way to hardmod it, but ya, i wouldnt even dare leave a finger print on a $700 cpu. :)

No. 2xx Opterons have an additional coherent HT link, which is required with the Opteron architecture so the processors can talk to each other.

iirc upto 144 is not a problem newer versions will not

Got anything to back this up, that would make a dual opteron rig a bit more within grasp.
