Opteron or x2?

Was getting ready to buy an X2 but I see these posts about Opteron.
What would be the advantage of using it in stead of an X2 chip, why do people buy them?.
Seems like the guys in the know use Opterons???.

The socket 939 Opterons overclock like nobodys business... Thats why people buy them. If you are not into overclocking, get X2. Basically Opterons are just more thoroughly tested 64s, and used to be available only in socket 940 that required use of registered memory.

Yeah, I bought the wife a Opteron for her machine, but I can't get the CPU Mhz to change from 201.46 MHz. Really annoying. Guess I need to find a floppy drive for a BIOS update.
