Opteron or Venice core?

Thinking of up-grading my trusty ol' nForce2 based to a new socket 939 either ASRock 939 Dual-sata (because I have a 6800U AGP) or Maybe even one of the new ASus ATi crossfire capable jobs and get a PCI-e vid card.

Anyway's with one of those should I get an Opteron or Venice core job? I would probably go with a 1.8gig vers of either and hope to OC to at least 2.4gig. I have looked briefly and have not found a site that compares the two in a gamming benchmark scenario.

All I can say is I bought a retail 148(everything else was sold out). I'm sitting at 2805@1.4vcore in an AsRock 939Dual-SATAII. The motherboard is in no way OCer friendly, and I had no problem pushing this chip to it's max. The memory is a different story, but there is a fix ahead for that.

Opterons have a higher rate of better overclocking, but it all depends on luck. If your lucky, even a venice can overclock pretty high.

Definitely go with an Opteron. The 165 is the same price as the X2 3800, has twice the L2 cache, and will most likely overclock better.
