Opteron notebooks....

it's targeted towards blade servers not notebooks
however i would be excited if they lauched a Dual CPU notebook😀
 
Not that the inquirer is exactly a reputable source of information...

See, I told you so =) I've been saying all along that these 64 bit SOI processors have a place in notebooks because of their low power consumption, while maintaining exceptional performance.
 
30W is not what I call low-power and at what speeds? Of course, this does imply that current Opterons use more than 55W of power, which gives it little advantage over an equivalent performing P4.

Why? When I can get a Pentium M based notebook which has the best performance/watt ratio of any x86 CPU?

Agreed. Unless AMD does something very fancy with A64 power consumption, the P-M will continue to have the best performance per watt. Though, gaming may be a completely different story.
