Opteron based system for gaming?

I love the Radeon X700, because its a nice powerful card for its low price. BUT, it currently only runs on PCI-e...and there aren't any Athlon MB's out that support PCI-e. So should I turn around and go Opteron for gaming, or is it pure server only? Sucks though since the PCI-e Opteron MB costs obcene amounts...

OOOR should I just hold off and wait a month or so for the X700 to come out in AGP and/or a PCI-e Athlon MB to come out?

I wouldn't even worry about PCI-E, as right now they are the same speed. And I haven't seem any PCI Express Opteron motherboards, where have you ? (and don;t confuse pci-e with pci-x, totally different slot)

And even if the x700 could run in the opteron board, why? For the price of the Registered ECC, the S940 mobo and the Opteron CPU, you could probably get a comparable A64 based computer w/ a R9800pro or something.
