Opteron 280?

Whats your thoughts on why AMD has yet to release a 2.4GHz Dual Core Opteron, see that they have a 2.4GHz AthlonX2.

Just wondering what you guys think about this?

No competition from Intel on the dualcore server front, chip foundry capability (limited until Fab36 is up and running full tilt), yields, or a combination of all three. My guess.

I think AMD said that they would release it soon, they're probably just waiting until Intel's Dual-core Xeon launch, though.

They don't need it. Their current offerings are screaming, even at the lower clock speeds, and Intel is getting spanked. Don't put in the market what you don't need to.
