Opteron 246 "CO" core??

Hi everyone

Thanks to all the posters here who have helped me in preparing for my first-ever build.

I am starting to scan the FS/FT threads here and at HardForums every few hours because I've realized that with some patience, this is a great way to get good components at great prices.

Two separate guys at HF have advertised Opteron 246 CO Core processors for sale.

I can't get the phrase "CO Core" to return many hits either here or at Google. This is the only Google hit for 'Opteron CO'

Is this a chip for server builds only?

hmm, i havent heard of CO...this is the 2nd AMD thing that i havent heard of. the first was a s754 venice!

maybe its a revision/stepping of some sort? i have no idea...dont have an AMD.

They probably mean C0. That's a fairly old stepping these days.
