Opteron 180 vs Opteron 280

Ok, so I'm looking to get new computer together and I noticed that Opteron 180 is socket 939 and has pretty much the same specs as Opteron 280 for socket 940. I would guess that this would be very beneficial since I would use unregistered low latency RAM with it, but where to buy dual 939 mobos? What I'm wondering is what's the performance difference if any between the 2. Opteron 180 costs $500 less then 280, but I just fail to see what might be the difference between the 2 except socket 940.

Anyone?

Thanks!

The reason why Opteron 180s are so cheap is because they can't be used in multi-socket systems. If you really want to run Dual Opteron get a Tyan Thunder K8WE

And the 940's use server grade stuff.
