Opteron 175 memory choices?

I am building up a new CAD workstation that will see after-hours gaming, (mostly Oblivion, and AoE). I already have the Opteron 175 chip and the ASUS 8N32 deluxe main board. I plan on 2x 1GB sticks of memory. Both board and proc. support ECC unbuffered memory which is recommended for max stability, but such memory is rare and slow, either with slow clock speeds or long latencies. The Corsair "MemoryMan" recommended their XMS3500LLpro series, I have heard others say the Corsair 3200 C2 sticks. Patriot, Gigabyte and OCZ brands are also under consideration.

Has anyone verified the stability claims of ECC wired memory? and can slow spec ECC overclock at all?

Thanks for your recommendations.

I've got the 175 also. Everyone I know Disables ECC in bios. Me too.
does the CAD program you mentioned need this ECC Memory?

I use the OCZ 2GB- PC4000 EB DDR500 Platimums. I also have a set of 3500LL PRO 2GB sitting on the shelf.

I've OCed the rig about 10% 250 X10, and it's rock solid. In photoshop CS2 I work 20 times faster than my old rig.

Hope thats of some help
