All, I have an Opteron 170, A8n SLI Premuim Motherboard, 2X1 Gb Mushkin Extreme RAM, PATA 200 Gb Maxtor, GEForce 6800GS.
Am trying to install Win2k Pro (i know - only licensed Os I own for now) but it gives me the BSOD intermittently during the install.

Thanks for any help. The MOBO detects the RAM fine but it says unkown processor.

rsatat,

Clear your BIOS 1st, just to be safe. Unplug the power cord, remove the battery and short the jumper on CLEAR CMOS or similar label on your mobo. After 5-10 seconds, put the jumper back to its default position. Then put the battery back to its socket.
Clearing CMOS will force the BIOS to its original setting, which is safe for all type of users. From there you should be able to install your OS.

Good luck
