opteron 165 running hot

I got an opteron 165 last evening with one of the good stepping CCBBE 0617FPMW. I used the stock cooler that comes with the cpu, and it booted up at 305 x 9 but my temps were close to 70 degrees. I almost thought i had roasted the cpu so took the overclock down to 280 x 9 and its still 47 idle and about 55-58 at load. I am wondering if my old Zalman 7000 CuAl would be a better choice for colling because this is way too high. BTW vcore is stock at 1.35V
