Opteron 165 Dual Core * Compatibility Problem*

Ok i wanna warn people who are buying Opteron 165. First there is no support for this processor from any Motherboard company yet.

As i have MSI Neo4 platinum SLI, i am feeling a pain you cannot imagine.

Every time i reboot the system i get error "Machine_Check_Exception" and computer freeze. which means Motherboard is not supporting Processor. I check this processor with 2 Motherboards both MSI Neo4 Platnium SLI.

I just talked to the tech department at MSI and they said this motherboard is not for Opteron even it is socket 939 Opteron.

I have latest 3.7 BIOS, but this problem is killing me. 🙁

Any help would be good.

That really sucks. I have an Opteron 150 and the same board, the same bios, thank god I don't have the same problem, I would probably flip my lid.

just because YOUR motherboard doesnt support it doesnt mean ALL other motherboards wont support it. You might wanna check out the forums at overclockers.com or xtremesystems.com

Plenty of people running these Opterons. Research before u post and sound like a noob. 🙂

So wait are you telling me AMD releases a processor(s) but no motherboards support it? I highly doubt this.

Well i did search before i post this thread. I did not find any body using the same CPU with Msi Noe4 platinum SLi, and for every bodies information DFI does not support opterons also.

I called MSI tech department and they said this motherboard does not support Opteron, so go figure out by your self.

I reset the every thing i changed Motherboards, but same problem shows up. Every thing works fine with my 3000+ E6, but this opteron is killing me.

Here is the link for DFI
