I would call it profiteering, not gouging. Gouging generally relates to goods and services essential to live i.e. food, clothing, shelter, etc like in times of civil emergencies.

In this case this is a luxury item with numerous alternatives. Why is it gouging if you can get alternatives for the same price or cheaper, especially one that officially performs better?

Still, I see nothing wrong with raising the prices on these items. After all, most of the people buying them are looking for a better deal than normal by overclocking them and then lying to AMD when they fry their chips(rare i know)..

Anyway the price is a temporary market adjustment..

A $50 price hike by the same company on the same cpu in less than 2 weeks time is gouging, profiteering, and most of all annoying. 😛

Yeah, I'm a tad annoyed by their price increase. Excaliber had a few in stock for $325 + ship while Monarch was out. I refuse to pay the increased price anyway. Newegg will have them in stock in 2 days, and hopefully keep the price at the below $300 mark.

Also, at Monarch's site, they have a "get quote" option. Does that in any way lock down a price for your item? Like say you get a quote on an item when it's out of stock for $300, then they get them in stock and decide to raise the price to $350 2 days later, can you use your quote and receive the quoted price?

It's not gouging, it's supply meeting demand.

Not really... There will be more supply then demmand and this price will go back down as other shops will have them in stock. I see Intel is in this game so it should make these prices go down even more imo...
