Opteron 165 back in stock at zzf

Nice, I just ordered an OEM 170 from Monarch yesterday for $365. Probably worth it for $15 more, even though the 165 is Retail.

Good luck with that chip. Am looking at dual core processors at the moment and am unsure...earlier opterons, at least single core ones, seemed to get ridiculous overclocks - up to 3 ghz. Now some people are having a hard time hitting 2.5-2.6 sometimes. Don't know whether this is true or not for the x2s.

Thinking the same thing here about the Opty 165. Would be very happy just getting 2.7Ghz but noww I'm not too sure of them. More likely I will splurge and get one anyway.

Well, for $350 the cost vs performance issue swings back to the 3800 X2 since they are still can be had for $315-$320ish. Dont you think?

Edit: Speaking from a overclocking perspective that is.

There is a guy who sells X2 3800+ for $295 every two days on eBay. (sells out quickely) I think that's the best deal right now.

My 165 is an OEM - picked it up from NewEgg for $289 when they first hit the scene.

OEMs go for about $310-320 now which is still a good price.
