opteron 148 vs. x2 3800

i want to install vista.

should i buy opty 148 or x2 3800 for it?

i got ocz plat. rev.2 (512x2), DFI motherboard and 6800 GT.

That depends on whether you want to have a faster single-core processor, or a slower dual-core processor.

I've seen quite a few people hitting 2.7-2.8 with the newer stepping x2 3800's.
Placed my order yesterday.

I have the 148 @ 2.75 on air. No problems. But I bought it for $220 when the 3800s were around $300+. With the current prices, and OC'ing, I'd go with the 3800. It's way cheaper, and will at least hit 2.5 on the right board.
