Opteron 146 won't run at 2.5GHz

If I run at 2.5GHz (250x10), as soon as Windows loads to desktop the system restarts.
If I run at 2.45GHz (245x10) it runs perfectly fine.
I have tried using 9/10 and 4/5 divider but still does the same thing.
I am using 9/10 divider at 2.45GHz currently.
I have tried up to 1.55v as most ppl seem to think this is the highest safe voltage.
I am using an AMD 4-heatpipe heatsink and my temps at 2.45GHz (1.50v) running CPU burn-in 1.01 never go over 45C.
I am using an Epox 9NPA3-Ultra Motherboard.

Should I increase my voltage above 1.55v ?

Also I'm using an Antec SP2.0 380w PSU (came with my NSK-4400). Could this be my problem ?

Any and all help is much appreciated.

I've found that with my new 148 and my old 2800+... a few mhz HTT made a world of difference, at 250 it was perfectly stable.... 255 it wasn't

edit: runs at 250x9, but not 250x10

its a CACJE stepping 0606 APAW i think or CPAW maybe, cant remember
is there a prgoram that will show this info?

No there is no program that will tell you this, you have to remove the heatsink. What is your mem running at? It could be your board or your PSU, 380watts is really short for OC'ing a 146.

probably CPAW not that it matters much

if you only have a 380W PSU that might be the problem, especially if you're pushing 1.5v which is way more than you should need for such low speeds.

been playing with it some more and it just wont run above 245x10, but will run 265x9.

as i type i am running at 240x10 at 1.45v with mem at 220.

i was running 1.50-1.55v to rule out low volts being an issue.

i got this board because of all the reviews showing 300+ HTT, and i dont particularly like DFI.

im guessing that it is my PSU. no matter how i run it, i cant get 2.5GHz.

just have to save up for a new psu. thanks for the help.

Could you try unplugging an extra hard drive or an unnecessary case fan, something that runs off the +12v rail, and then try again to overclock?

i have 1 case fan, 1 hard drive, and 1 dvd drive. and my 7900GT cant be unplugged.
the psu load is about as small as it can get. but it is only a 380w.

I would think that 380w is plenty unless you are putting load on your video card at the same time.

There are 146/148's that won't do 2.5GHz. Rare, but nonetheless. Then again, if the chip is stable @2.45GHz it should boot @2.5GHz with no problem. If that's the case something else could be wrong. How stable are you @2.45GHz?

yeah, wondering same thing with lopri. However, what kind of ram do you have? I found out that my ram made all the difference in the world. I had to run my corsair value select at <DDR350 with my OC around 2.9ghz (333mhz HTT)

EDIT: Just read Avalon's post Below, GOOD ADVICE

Although software voltage monitoring isn't always that reliable, set your system to the highest stable overclock setting you witnessed, and fire open an instance of speedfan or some other mobo monitoring program. See what +12v rating you have at idle, and then fire up prime95. See if that causes any dips in your 12v line. You could also add RTHDRIBL to the mix, to get your video card going too, and see if that also causes any dips on the line.

If so, you may need a beefier 12v line.

I'm using OCZ Gold Series BH-5 RAM

Tried using 5/6 divider (208MHz i think)

Speedfan does not give me voltage readings for my mobo.
Ant other similar programs?

Also, I never really use Prime95. I ran Sisoft Sandra Complete Benchmark and 3dmakr05 tho. They both ran fine. And I play CS:S about 3-6 hours a night and it runs fine.
