Which one do you guys suggest. I'm also confused, I see it saying socked 939 and socket 940 so I don't know wtf it is.

I AM NOT GOING FOR VIA BASED, I HATE VIA WITH A PASSION. DON'T EVEN RECOMMEND IT ALL.

Thanks

There is socket 940 which uses special mobo/memory and also socket 939 which uses normal mem/socket 939 mobo.

You first need to figure out which socket you need. Then decide on a MB.
You probably want S939 (uness this is for a dedicated server), so there are many solid boards to choose from.

do you detest via from past personal experiences, or do you just hate it because some people here don't recommend it? because via is still a very reputable company and makes very decent chipset still. nothing wrong with my two via boards.

Personal experiences, almost every computer I built for people based on VIA, have given me problems that are impossible to fix and were just hair pullers.

Thanks guys, I didn't know there are two, I just see a rave of people talking about opterons and they seem cheaper/better price performance wise to a AMD 64. Its not for a server, just a upgrade from a AMD XP 2500+ based system.
