Well, right now I'm trying to decide on getting an E3 3000+ Venice or an Opteron 144. I've heard that both overclock extremely well (which is what i'm planning to do). Anyways, I have a few questions...

What one would be better in terms of performance?
Is the new CAB2E revision good at overclocking?
Will we see future price drops?
What about new revesions? (It seems newer revisions have worse overclockability)

Tell me your opinions!!

Thanks

I think most people here will tell you to go the Opteron route, as you'll most likely achieve a better overclock as Opteron's are premo grade silicon.

I just replace the 3000+ Venice in my Shuttle ST20G5 with an Opteron 165. The A64 I had was not very OCable with stock voltage and produced too much heat for the Shuttle with much added voltage. So I almost had to run it stock. The Opteron runs at 2.5 at stock voltage and is about 5c cooler than the A64 stock! I really have not tried upping the voltage or even running it faster yet, just got it yesterday. I am seriously pleased. I know this does not exactly answer you question but thought it might help or be interesting for comparison. The O 146 really cost very little more $$ also. YMMV but that was my experience.
