Opteron 144 vs 146...

144=2.6-2.7 on stock V and hsf???!!!! d@mn....i guess it would kill my P4...

thesurge-what m/b are you using?

Then what about at 3.0?

Seriously, the difference is the multiplier. And your mobo. If your mobo maxes out at 300HTT, you might want to get the 146 instead of the 144 cos 9x300=2700. Which is slow, for CABYE/CAB2E.

Yep I second that, if you really want to go all out try the 165.

would a 146 still be better than a 144 w/ a m/b that can do 320htt and my ram that can do only 215MHz? the reason i ask is because the 146s are getting harder to find for a decent price. 320htt x 9xmultiplier is still 2880MHz, but is it better to have more multiplier than htt?

be gentle, i have a had a p4 for some time and my last amd was a xp2000... and i really never o/ced, but probably will with these opterons.

i am in phx, az where my computer ambient room temp is 82-88F for 6mos and i would like to use stock hsf/V. how would one of these opterons @ 2.5GHz(which as stated earlier is probably no problem with these cpus, even the 144) compare to my p4 encoding xvid/dvds @ 3.0GHz?
