Opteron 144 CAB2E Max Temp?

OK, so if

I'm using an Arctic Freezer 64

My voltage is 1.52v

Im at 53-54 on load


Does this mean everything is fine and Im good?

i guess i fall in that category.
i bought a opty 165 specificaly to OC but now that i have it running. i never OC it cuz once i got to to 2.1 GHz the temps went to 43 C under load from 37 C . (btw is that normal) and i got so worried i immdeatly turned down the clock..
hell even my mobo was chosen so that it OCs to hell and back with no issues

so to the OP its really up to you. under 60 is the safe zone but as my story above tell SOME won't even go above 40 C
 
Well, I'll tell ya, my 3500+ didnt like anything over 45C, but this bad boy has gone as high as 57C and still runs prime stable. I read on DFI-Street that the max temp for these Opterons is 65-70...

I'm at 1.52v and 2700mhz right now...
 
Of course you can run these chips above 60, but the lifespan on the chip will just be shorter. Although there is no specific number, but the general rule is keep it under 60. In my opinion try to to keep it under 54 at load.
 
You're 52C on load, you'll be fine. Although i'm curious how your air flow is. Your temps may actually be lower because SLi has the tendency to raise the case temperature, at least it happened to me. You can always mod the side of your case with a 120mm blowhole and cool it a bit further.
 
You should download this little utility called TCaseMax: http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=83

It will tell you specific information about the thermal design of your cpu. The software will show TCaseMax and TDP. They are not indicative of how well the cpu will OC but give you an idea of your cpu's design. All of my 146 Opty's (5) were different. e.g.:

CABYE 0540 FPMW...TCaseMax of 63C and a TDP of 61.8 watts...3000 @ 1.475v @ 52C max (the one I kept)
CAB2E 0540 FPMW...TCaseMax of 65C and a TDP of 70 watts...2870 @ 1.375v @ 53C max
CAB2E 0546 UPMW...TCaseMax of 59C and a TDP of 50 watts...2800 @ 1.525v @ 48C max

The CAB2E 0540 ran quite a bit warmer than the rest (+3-5C at max load at same frequencies)) but was super stable at high temp (50C) and required the least volts. I would have felt comfy running that cpu up to 60C. The CAB2E 0546 was the coolest running 146 I had but required the most volts. I am under the belief that at long as the voltage is at or just above stock, OC the cpu to all it will give you and don't worry about the temp as long as you are under 60C. I am more concerned with voltage than temperature, but that's just me....

The TCaseMax utility seems very buggy. It basically reports same max TCase temp for dual-core opterons. And it says my Opteron 165's TDP is 35 watts(!?). And according to the author's theory the higher the TCaseMax the higher OC potential of a given chip, but from my experience (with lots of Socket 939 Opterons) it's totally off.

Edit: Well, At least Mucker gets a results that's corresponding with TCaseMax. Mucker, did you check the TCaseMax with dual-core Opterons?

 
As I stated previously, TMaxCase is not indicative of how well a cpu will OC but does provide useful info about the cpu (apparently not for dual-core though). All 5 of my Opty's reported different values. The CAB2E 0540 from above had the highest TDP and best potential of all my 146's. I simply didn't have the cooling to push it although similiar steps have hit 3200 MHz stable.
