Gonna get a new chip..... Currently have a venice 3000+, but i believe the memory controller is bad, as I've swapped ram and mobo both and still get corrupt ram issues....

Anyhoo, since I'm still looking, would the opteron 144 or 146 (s939) be faster than the venice 3000+/3200+???

This is not necessarily true, but from everything I've seen (including first hand experience ordering a late model Venice E3 3200+) Venice's no longer overclock well; at least compared to the Opterons.

Clock for the clock, they are the same thing. But Opterons should OC much better.

Opterons are more stringently tested, have a better memeory controller, made from the premium silicon.

Also, I believe Opterons have 1MB of L2 cache as opposed to 512KB on Athlon 64s since ClawHammer.
