opteka lenses?

based on prices i'm seeing, i'm assuming these are poor quality lenses?

never heard of phoenix, but sigma makes some quality lenses...

I took this with a Sigma 70-300 on my Nikon D70

The most highly regarded lens manuf. other than the big boys are Sigma, Tokina and Tamron.

here's the thing. i have a 70-300mm telephot lens right now and i'm thinking of getting something higher than 300mm, at least a 400mm, but i don't have a lot of money to spend on a lens.

Higher end Sigmas are nice.

If you're looking for a good telephoto for your Nikon, you're going to have to spend atleast 700. Everything else that's less besides the Nikkor 70-300mm ED is junk, and even that's too slow of a lens.

That's a big hole in the Nikon lens line-up. Canon has a 70-300 with IS for ~500.

That's a big hole in the Nikon lens line-up. Canon has a 70-300 with IS for ~500.

its a tamron 70-300, not the nikkor one you are talking about, btw.
