Solved! Optane 905p

Have the option of getting the 32 core ThreadRipper but then I miss out on an optane drive (primary)(not supported on the AMD ASUS motherboards being generally offered) and max RAM on that MBoard is 64Gb
Vs.
I get an intel based 18 core 9980xe but I can get the 905p 960GB as the OS (windows pro) drive hoping for a more "responsive' system?! Can get 128 Ram on that)

I hate window delays. Eg. opening up finder. Or finder searching for files etc.

It's a Chess PC so the threads help with faster analysis so the ThreadRipper obviously would be nice for more CPU....but I still want the MOST responsive system with no Click-delays. Cannot stand those!!

TY

I took a look. I'm not sure why its not listed but 905P is a regular NVMe drive and has no trouble working with any systems including AMD.

It only matters if you want the Intel Optane acceleration software to work. Otherwise, even the Optane Memory modules are considered as regular storage drive.

Buy the system and install the 905P separately that would work. If you are willing to swallow the high price for the drives they are the fastest.
I'm confused. Are you talking about some Black Friday combo discounts, or about actual device compatibility? You can use an Optane SSD on a Threadripper system. The only limitation is that the 905P doesn't come in M.2 2280 form factor, so you either need to use a PCIe x4 or wider slot, the U.2 version, or the 380GB M.2 22110 version.

TY for replying. Not concerned about the$ factor (building a dream PC). I was using origin PC and they didn't list the optane as an option with the AMD motherboards (zenith II extreme. )- hence I assumed they were not comfortable supporting them

You clearly know a lot about this. If i could get the optane on either system- do you think it would make give a Palpable responsiveness to the system?
TY For responding🙂
