LOL.. so apparently Oprah should be the President of the USA. Also, apparently, the President should walk around throwing free stuff all around.

That article is a biased piece of crap. Why can't they just report on what Oprah did without having it be political. I like Oprah okay.. but I also like President Bush.

I seem to hear a lot about the looting going on, and the violence. Isn't that not where the leader of a country should go?

OP forgot to read the Corrections on the linked page

Additional material published Sept. 10, 2005:

CORRECTIONS AND CLARIFICATIONS

A story in Friday's Tempo section about Oprah Winfrey's visit to hurricane-stricken New Orleans contained comparisons of Winfrey to President Bush that were unfavorable to Bush. The Tribune failed to disclose that the writer was a contributor to the presidential campaign last year of Bush's opponent, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.). Tribune standards require disclosure of any such conflict of interest.

i'm really not a fan of bush, but this guy seriously needs to get a clue.

a) bush doesn't necesarily have the money to throw around that oprah does. maybe he does, i dunno. but its not like he can do what he pleases with the nation's money
b) the country does not stop running just because of the hurricane, he can't spend all his time down there, the world didn't stop turning.

I'd hit every hole on that sweet mama. (Maybe she'll give me a car or a nice sectional or something as a parting gift.)

Although Bush got off to a slow start, I think he'll be an effective conduit for aid in the coming years. It took a little time to get some taxpayer cash funneling to Haliburton + Shaw for this disaster. Even if Oprah works hard, she will not be able to funnel that type of money into those companies or be able to make that much income from these people. Why waste an opportunity to make that cash; these poor, black people are already dead and the rest of them will get things rebuilt anyway with the cash they're giving these friends.

What did she do, give everyone new cars and then stick them with the tax bill?

I watched about two minutes of her day there and turned it off. Tired of hearing all of the racial comments back and forth.

Meh, I doubt even Stedman gets to hit the hole all that often, if at all. :Q

What a stupid article. Oprah doesn't have a responsibility to the nation to stay healthy and out of harm's way like the President does...why do we even have to explain this? She might be rich enough to hire her own Secret Service but she can fire her's as well--our President cannot and pretty much has to listen to them when they say not to go somewhere because its unsafe. I like how the Tribune added that 'full disclosure' after the fact.

So if Bush would have went into the superdome everyone would be happy? Come on now, that's just dumb.
