opps...anyway to know if I fried my cpu?

I was installing a new heatsink today and stupid me somehow fried the cpu. I was wondering if there was anyway to test to make sure that it really is dead before going and shelling out some cash on a new one?

put the Heat sink and fan on it and try and boot. if you get nothing then its dead
