Opposition to Polls.

Ugh, every five topics or so are now polls. I don't like them. Instead of encouraging people to give reasons for their choice by posting a message, they just put a vote in and forget about it. No stimulating commentary/debate, no funny phrases, no flame wars, just a few clicks and leave. BLEH! Going to suck the life out of the forums sooner or later if you ask me.

I like the polls in moderation. I think that the montior poll in GH was good and the who are you going to vote for poll was good. The rest are just pointless.

I disagree, AMD Junkie. The poll thing is brand new, so obviously everyone's going to run with it. Give it time, my good fellow. In time it'll just meld in with the classic features, like the ability to edit thread titles.

But the ability to change thread titles did not affect the quality of the forums. It was put there to end confusion about threads whose topic had changed internally. I'm afraid we'll soon see threads that, instead of debating which type of RAM is superior, members just place a vote and go. If this is the future, I don't want it!

I think eventually the novelty of the polls will wear off, & people will revert back to their discussions. The poll feature will, however, come in handy for tallying results in large discussions. For example, what do you think of Isla?
