Some very tame sex scenes. The hottest one is actually the imagination of his wife of him with his mistress.
WHAT????

I got scammed!

There was only one where she has her bare back towards him and then turns around and nothing is shown from the neck down and then she is on top of him and forces him to blurt out the "I am become Death" crap.

EDIT: I remember now. It said 15+ at the beginning. They were afraid teenagers in the audience might get too excited and cause a few unwanted pregnancies.

When I was a teenager you went to shitty movies to fuck. The theaters for Oppenheimer are pretty busy for that.

-In the interrogation room when they're breaking him down and asking about his dalliances with various women while his wife is sitting there...

Basically Florence Pugh straddling some dude on a chair.

Please be careful. Some of us haven't seen this yet. Guess I'll see myself out of this thread for while.

Haven't seen it yet. But I'm assuming it focuses on the dark side of Mr Oppenheimer. Like if THE RAIN MAN put Las Vegas out of business by counting cards, then lived to regret it.
My interest is with actor Cillian Murphy. This was a huge career advancement for this deserving actor. I like watching deserving actors finally getting their chance to excel, and this was the case for Cillian Murphy. I've always enjoyed his weird quirky roles in film but now Cillian Murphy can get the recognition he really deserves, and the top billing in the future roles which he deserves. Watch out Tom Cruze. Watch your back Tom Hanks.

-There are no spoilers here. Watch the film for the excellent construction, pacing, acting, tension, and drama.

Nothing I can tell you about Mr. Oppenheimer's life is really a secret, the incredible thing about the movie is that you already know and are still gripped.

Saw it today in 70MM IMAX -

I went into this totally blind, just a fan of film and last movie I saw in a theatre was Dunkirk in 70MM IMAX.

Story was not what I expected, I can see how audiences feel this was a let down.

Its quite the spectacle for a biography of Oppenheimer, not the Manhattan Project. Sound was riveting, the cinematography was stunning, pacing was pretty good - only got bogged down twice. I'd need to see this a few more times to really understand it all - so much to process, so many side plots/conversations/characters to keep track of.

Acting was superb, Nolan really got some impressive performances form his cast although I thought Matt Damon was mis-cast.
Rami Malek was fantastic as was Florence Pugh as Jean.

They probably were so dismayed that they thought, "Oh heck! How much worse can Barbie be compared to what we just saw?"

I saw half a row below me leave about one hour into the movie. Seemed to be a group of friends.

When walking home, this different group of young guys was walking ahead of me. I overheard one of them saying, "There was only ONE sexy scene in the movie."

Poor chaps!

I wonder how their brains made the connection between atomic bomb and sex.

You are welcome.

Not really. He is portrayed as a victim.
Actually, that's kinda one of the things that bugged me a bit. I imagined him to be a very strong minded character, able to control the outcome of any meeting with his commanding presence. But he is shown to be a bit wimpy. Then again, I didn't know him in real life.

Physicist Hans Bethe, who was no fool, once noted that "Robert could make people feel they were fools."

One division leader at Los Alamos said this of "Oppie":

"He understood immediately when he heard anything, and fitted it into the general scheme of things and drew the right conclusions. There was just nobody else in that laboratory who came even close to him. There was human warmth, as well. Everybody certainly had the impression that Oppenheimer cared what each particular person was doing."
From https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/robert-oppenheimer-documentary/

Would have liked to see those qualities highlighted in the movie.

Saw a YT that said in a flag waving scene the flags had the wrong number of stars for the time period. Probably a millennial prop master that did not learn that Hawaii joined in 1959.

-"You don't get to live in sin and not suffer the consequences"

And

"Why are you so insistent on suffering for what you have created"

Paraphrasing, but those two lines by Kitty basically sum up the movie. Kitty even screams at him for not fighting the inquiry.

Jean/Florence Pugh's entire storyline is a foil for Oppenheimer's pursuit of the bomb: he knows it's wrong, but he cannot stop himself, will even make up justifications, and when it's gone too far and there are deadly consequences, he feels bad.

I bet that's how the Team Lead of Project EndHumanity will feel after unleashing a sentient AI.

It was the 15+ version. I went there for the good quality ATMOS acoustics. Didn't know they would neuter the full experience.

To be fair, it was actually super disturbing. But the concept and execution were masterful.

I can't imagine paying for a chopped up edited version. Yikes. Did they dub in clean language for all the potty words too?

Now that you mention it, I guess so. Or maybe I didn't pay attention? But I would have remembered a loud F-bomb.

Crap. I will need to watch it again when it's, uh, more widely available.
