Opinons on speakers <$500?

I had some Infinity RS-3 bookshelf speakers that I used for two years in college before a roommate's idiot girlfriend knocked one off the stand and broke it. I'm looking to get a replacement pair in a couple months. I don't really care about home theater/surround sound, so one pair will be fine for now. I've seen Infinity Interlude 30 floor-standing speakers around for about $400 per pair and they seem like a pretty good deal. Both the Interlude 40s and the Entra Threes seem to be quite a bit more expensive, so the only other Infinity speakers that compare are the Entra Twos. I was very happy with the RS-3s and I haven't looked at other brands yet, but I will certainly consider them. Anyone have any experience with the speakers I'm looking at or anything comparable?

this is bouind to start the klipsch/logitech/<insert other speaker brand> wars. If you don't care about theatre/surrond sound or quality, then you could get a pair for under 100 bucks at your local compusa.

These are badarse at a badarse price (scratch and dent though...still comes with crutchfield warranty so if one doesn't work you get new ones!!). If you want floor-standing speakers that is....

I have the Infinity Interlude 40's as my front speakers....I LOVE them. I also got them for freakin cheap with my discount 🙂 The IL30's are pretty sweet too. If you don't have a stand alone sub and aren't gonna get one, possibly look into the Polk RT1000's, they have built in amplified subs...although last November when I bought my speakers, they were priced the same as the IL40's.

I just got a pair of IL50s from ubid. They have a 1" tweeter, 6.5" woofer and 10" sub, so they won't sound as good as the 40s (1", 4", 8" drivers) plus a separate sub, but for my purposes they should be fine. The only down side is the $120 shipping charge 🙁

Maybe I'll just unload them on ebay.

Yea, that's why I didn't get the IL50's, they cost more and didn't sound as good as the IL40's + a sub(I have the Polk 350), but they still are great speakers...what price did you get? that shipping is killer
