Need your opinions here, would you be willing to pay $980.00 for the infocus screenplay 4805 projector with less than 10 hours lamp time on it? I have the opportunity for this purchase, just wanted to get some opinions on this.

Yes thats a pretty good as long as all the acc are with it...I have the same unit and love it...I paid $1100 for mine brand new on Ejay...ask the person selling the projector if they can sent you a pick of the service screen showing the lamp hours as verification

Maybe.

A new lamp will cost you ~$333 according to one retailer, which is pretty normal, but how do you know there is actually only 10 hrs. used on this projector?
I would be very vary of someone saying that TBH.

Make sure that lamp is indeed very new, cause i'm betting it won't be...

The lamp specs are 3000 to 4000 hours...you will be able to tell when it reaches its preset since the image will beome dimmer and you have to adjust the brightness higher. The brightness then can be adjusted until there are no more adjustments left or until the picture looks crappy.

Id just hone up the extra cash for a new one with a warranty..trust me , if you have a good room for this unit (aka 100% light control) you will keep it.

I got my X1 in October of 2003 and already have 2900+ hours on it. :)

The X1 and 4805 are both awesome projectors...easily the best bang for the buck out of any HT projector.

Here is my HT..

Hey , BTW since there is some knowledge here about the 4805, I am thinking of upgrading to it myself. What is the lowest authorized price going for now and from where?
AVS wont let you so much as say a word about pricing there. :)

I can get $600 easy for my X1 on Ebay ..so the upgrade would only run me the difference.

4805 = :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I got mine from costco + 76" screen + 30' s-video cable for $999.
Not an authorized dealer, but you get the costco warranty = :D

I think authorized dealers are still at $1299

Sam's Club has the projector and the 76 in. screen for 1188.00, I checked on it there the other day. Online the lowest I have seen is 1299.00.

I think $1299 is the lowest they can advertise for if its an authorized dealer.

Do you know what kind of warranty you get at Sam's?

Not real sure, but, I am sure they will push there extended warranty which i think is 3 years, could be wrong on that though.

The reason I ask is because Sam's club isn't on Infocus's approved reseller list so if something goes wrong with it, the only place you're going to have a warranty for it is Sam's.
