I have this guy friend, who I love to pieces. He is so good to me, and we get along so well, especially considering we have only really known each other for 5 months now. Well, hes had some pretty bad luck with women in the past, and he is the type of guy, that would do anything for someone. He has taken me to dinner, picks me up for work (we work together) and takes me home, calls me all the time to see how I am doing, etc so on. He has been very down about Valentines day this year, because he doesn't have anyone. In your opinions, would it be ok if I sent him flowers? I was looking at this one: FTD Bouquet, though I am sure there will be some specials before Vday arrives. I want to make him feel good, and remind him someone cares, even if he isn't involved with anyone right now.

So, would that make you guys uncomfortable if a girl did that? Or would you like that. Input, please. :p

Be careful. He might take it as a sign that you are interested. It's a sweet idea, but if he's really lonely, he's likely to see it for more than it is.

I know most guys would probably assume in the back of their tiny little brains that you wanted to get more intimate.

My thoughts exactly. I think it's a bad idea, unless you ARE interested. ;)

I agree, be careful with flowers unless that is how you feel.

You might want to get something funny or playful just to show him that he is a good friend. Like movie tickets, show tickets, or something like that. Flowers are more of a romantic type gift.

Ok, so flowers are considered romantic, eh? Well, I was thinking of actually taking him to dinner and a movie tonight instead (its our weekend off). Costs about as much, and its more fun for the money.

Just leave him alone. If you do anything you're likely to give him the wrong idea, or just make him feel worse. I'd certainly make me feel like crap if someone did something like that just trying to make me feel better.

Well, he has openly said he wished people did stuff for him like he does for them, so I don't think it will make him feel bad.

lol appopin, thats what happens when you are friends with a girl. ;)

What you get "tortured"?

:D

Being the Torquemada of "first dates" is maybe not so good of an idea. ;)

Since you asked for an "opinion" (see my sig below), ASK him what film HE would like to see (you pick the restaurant). ;)

Ok, now I am getting a speech (no names) *cough formerrapstarwhoworereallybigpantsandfiledforbankruptcy* because I said I would ask him if he was busy over AIM. This person in question is saying its a cop out, and that I should call him, I don't think so! It's not a real date, so isn't just asking him over a messenger ok? :p

i would suggest that you refrain from sending him flowers. The reason for this is as stated before, several times...

Almost all men will take it the wrong way and he will think that you want him, no matter how sweet or innocent you think he is he will want to get with you then, unless you're really ugly and he is not, in which case he won't want to get with you but will distance himself from you because he thinks that an ugly girl wants to get with him.

In either case, its not a good idea.

my .02 do as you wish though...
