I am an intermediate user (of computers🙂) I have three pcs...Dell Inspiron notebook, PII 400 at home, PII 400 at work. I use my home desktop for everything from MS Word to Q3 and am upgrading soon. I already have my new ATX case and the motherboard is next.
Here's what I'm thinking of:

ASUS P4T-E INTEL® 850 CHIPSET PENTIUM® IV PGA478....$205.00
INTEL® PENTIUM® IV PGA478 RETAIL P4 1.50 GHZ ............$180.00

Total $385 US

Or:
Intel Pentium 4 PGA478 D850MDL * Audio & Intel Pro/100 Lan on-board.
Norton Internet Security with anti-virus (Who cares but it comes as a "bundle")
Intel Pentium 4 PGA478 1.5GHz CPU Retail. .........................$317.00 US

I will go with the Rambus Ram even though it is more expensive right now.

I'm not much of a tweaker but I believe that the Asus board will give me more tweaking ability. In lieu of this is the extra cost worth it?
What would you guys choose?

Btw I have decided not to go with AMD and DDR Ram.
Thx for any advice.

Gary

Some good p4X266 boards are coming out, DDR runs equally well on the p4 as rambus does.

I refuse to recommend intel boards though, I can not justify those cpu prices.
