I am considering the Nokia 8200 series or the Samsung 850 or 8500.

Any other great phones out right now?

Thanks to all who take time to post.

for sprint service, the qualcomms have the best reception but are rather big and ugly. most of the samsungs are OK in terms of reception. all the startacs just downright suck

I got the Nokia 8210, great phone, great size
no major problems at all
HOWEVER, I 'feel' it has much higher radiation than my older StarTAC

I recommend the Motorola v8088
best phone I suppose

xtreme2k I suppose that you're from Europe or Asia? They don't sell the 8210 in the States. It's known as 8260 for the same model. ;)

I like Ericsson's and Motorola's.
The Timeport(Motorola)
Pros
Tri band, good reception, fast menu system, the only bad thing is that the menu system is sorta messy, nothing you wont get used to though.
Sound is excellent.
And it also looks pretty good :)

Cons
Sorta big if you're used to say a T28.
Messy menu system.

My current phone is a T28(Ericsson) which Im also very happy with.
Pros
Good design, very good meny system, small and light, voice call if you like that, very good headset.

Cons
Short battery life(though it evens out a bit since it's battery doesnt drain as much as most other when talking, so the more you talk, the less you'll notice this), the menu system is sorta slow, though not horribly so.

Phones I hated:
Ericsson G688, old, and by todays standards it sucks, but again, its old, very old :)

Nokia 3210
Argh, worst of the phones Ive used by far.
Short battery life(supposed to be 260 hours, dont know how they count though, cause I could rarely squeeze more than like 2-3 days out of it with moderate use).
Heavy, dont know the exact weight, but too much for my taste.
No special features(like voice dial, triband, etc), its a phone, no more.
Basically, it sucked.

Have several friends with the 8210(or 8610 or whatever it was in the US:)), some like it, some dont.
I have one friend who certainly doesnt like it, he's had it replaced 3 times now, its malfunctioned in various ways. :)

hey i have an audio vox phone, dont know the model of the one i have, but they make one the 4500 silver with nice clear buttons really cool, can get web mail and everything with verizon, they also make a 9000 but thats tri mode, service costs more, one i have is the 4000, the battery life is spectacular 3-4 days on, if off over night maybe a week, also fully recharges in like 3 hours if half charged maybe an hour while your fraggin for a bit, gets text messages too, id like to try it on another service, verizon rates are kinda crummy

I have SprintPCS in L.A. and have the samsung 8500 and love it. My parents have 5160 nokias and I had a 6162 I didn't like the phone features at all, hey i'm techie kinda guy with style :). The new nokias are too damn small. one of my friends have the audiovox thru verizon sounds good. Get what you like....IMHO you should go with the best service in your area, ATT sucks in L.A., Sprint is a tad better. Verizon seems to be good too but I like the deal I got with sprint.
