My processor died a few weeks ago and amd sent me a AMD XP 1900+ Palomino core to replace it. I am looking into selling it and going for a Duron Applebred 1.6 since I heard it overclocks well and runs stable. I am also looking into buying a nforce2 motherboard which can support it, preferably something which can support a Zalman cnps7000a heatsink. I mainly use my pc for gaming, surfing, basically just having tons of stuff going at one time. I was wondering if you guys think the Applebred will be a better option for me in this case. Price is not a factor since I can sell my current cpu for about the same price as the applebred.
The motherboard is my other problem. I have been looking into getting a nforce2 motherboard. Something preferably which supports my heatsink (I find it easy to mount, a good cooler and very quiet) but if you can suggest something which is great bang for the buck and doesn't support the CNPS7000A then I will consider it. I am really not looking for too many features and am really trying to stay away from Asus (bad bad experiences with them all around). Any suggestions?
