Opinions on Widescreen TVs . . . .

I'm considering getting rid of my 36" CRT and investing in an HD-ready projection set. My buddy got a flat out awesome Mitsubishi (I think Platinum series) widescreen projection set, and the price was actually pretty reasonable.

I know in the past projection sets have been problematic, but the new ones are supposed to be better . . . all I know is, watching DVDs on a 60" Widescreen is a thing of beauty!

I'd like to get a plasma screen, but they're still way too damn expensive . . . what do you all have?

Is the room dark or a living room? If you can get it dark the ultimate tv movie experince is a hdtv projector. I have one and got mine for 1400. Its by far the best bang for the buck but most people dont have a proper room for it (needs to be able to get almost 100% dark). You think 60 is nice, try 100 (and its actually kinda funny, my dad has a 65 mits projection and mine looks alot better than his does).

Pics are in my sig if your interested.

55" Mitsubishi widescreen. Platinum Plus series 2001 model.

Not sure what you meant with past sets being problematic, though.

My friend had a projection set and the technician was out at least once a month adjusting the guns, changing the fluid because dust had gotten into them, etc. This was an older (late 80's early 90's) projection set though.

Nothing like that here with my projection sets (Sony and Hitachi)

Just got a 60 inch XBR WEGA LCD Projection TV. Looks beautiful with HD DVDs going.

I thought that Grand Vega XBR was crap? I asked about it here on ATOT and people said I should stay away?

How are you finding it?
