Opinions on this bundle

Hey all,

I'm looking for opinions on this bundled from Tiger direct. I'm sort of passively in the market (next month or two) for the stereotypical grandma system (wife's mom) and I am considering jumping on this deal at TD: MSI P4MAM2-V Socket 478 Barebone Kit / Intel Celeron D 340 / 256MB DDR / CPU Fan / ATX Mid-Tower Case with 425 Watt Power Supply for $99 bucks.

It does have a rebate and there are a few limits as far as the FSB, DDR 2700, AGP 4X, etc. But I'm not sure these will really affect the sytem for which I'm looking to put together. Any opinions on it? I've heard Celeron D's are pretty good performance wise IIRC. Am I better off picking up someone's old A7N8X Deluxe w/ a 2800 + and 512 meg of Ram for only a bit more than this bundle here for $ 99?

I don't know much about the processor, mobo or case..... and the deal does have rebates. Feel free to flame away or offer different opinions. Thank you.

Oliver

Grandma system? Go for it. $99 is an awesome deal. Just not sure about that power supply though - you might want to put in 256MB more ram if she's a really grouchy grammy.

Hmmmm. 2 votes yes..... any dissenting opinions? Or the new bundle vs. a solid N Force 2 mobo bundle.....

I just brought one from TD for $50 after rebate. Only the socket 478 is that price -- the LGA775 is more. I brought it because I needed SSE3 for something but it turns out to be a fairly good deal as it is just like the Celeron golden days when Celeron 366's would run 550 just by bumping the FSB. It's the same deal with the Celeron D it looks like and the performance isn't all that bad when overclocked. For regular usage, it's going to be just fine for a grandma desktop.
