They look ok, they perform ok, no one owns them. I'd go for something better for the price.

genocide pretty much summed it up. I will add that having sold cars for 4+ years everyone used to cringe whenever someone drove up in one of those. Why? Cause they had terrbile resale. It was always a wrenching experience giving the trade value to those owners. Basically we'd all try to get them to sell them on their own so we didn't really have to deal with the darned things.

Maybe it's different in different areas, but here in WI, those babies were real dogs on the market.

As I recall Subaru had something like $6,000.00 backdoor dealer cash and an outright rebate to the customer because even their dealers couldn't sell them.

I test drove one back when I was car shopping. I wish I'd bought it. I happen to like their odd looks, & it was a fun test-drive. I'm not sure whether the one I drove was AWD, but an AWD SVX would be a perfect car for me. If only it came with a 5-speed manual...

Hard question, especially since I haven't been in the car biz for about 3 years now. Personally I never cared for the styling. I know a lot of others didn't either, but that's just opinion, but popular opinion holds water in general, particularly when valuing something on the general market.

As I recall the performance was pretty mediocre on those. I think they were pretty pricey as well, somewhere in the $30K range (at least the sticker was), but I believe with all the incentives, both front and back end, one could get like $12K off of sticker.

Right there you know something's not right.

Actually, I thought that the SVX looked pretty cool when it came out. Lack of a manual transmission (MORTAL sin for a sporty car) and a rather high price vs performance ratio steered me away from it :(

The SVX was actually a pretty serious GT car, but I think people blanched at paying 300ZX TT money for a Subaru. The unavailability of a stick pretty well killed the deal for most serious drivers as well.
