Like most new Sonys, people say it's pretty nice but gets unreasonably hot on the bottom even when you're not putting any load on the CPU.

Sony's 13.3" laptops are pretty comparable to your average 14" widescreen. Sonys are 4.4 lbs. The Gateway M250 is 5.01 lbs. The HP DV1000 is 5.38 lbs. Sony isn't known for making particularly sturdy or reliable laptops, and you can get something just as good for about $1000. I'd say the ASUS W3V a better laptop for a little less. HP/Gateway have laptops just as good for a lot less. IBM probably has something better for about the same price.

Is that a joke? You're not actually trying to sell a used DV1000 for more than it costs new, are you?

The DV1000 with a Pentium M 1.6, 512MB and a 60GB hard drive is $999 before the $50 mail-in rebate. I hope you've got a whole lot of extras with it.

mines got a 1.7, 100GB HDD, 1gb ram, lightscribe dvd burner...its a step up from the base model thank you very much...not to mention its aspecial edition with a polished aluminum top. =)

EDIT: you can configure a similar model that is exactly the same but with a 1.6 instead of a 1.7 and it is 1329 after 100 instant savings and a 50 dollars mail in rebate...and the pric on mine is down to 1200.
